Manly West uses the CLARITY Learning Suite for HALT Accreditation
Dr Lyn Sharratt speaks with school leaders at Manly West Public School in Sydney. Julie Organ (Principal), Jenni Milburn, Catherine Jones, Vanessa Brown and Kathy Topham relate how they used the CLARITY Learning Suite as the driving vehicle to pursue Highly Accomplished Lead Teacher (HALT) status.
The HALT accreditation framework, developed by AITSL and the accreditation processes for NSW, managed by NESA, involves a rigorous assessment of teaching practices, including evidence submission, site visits, and professional discussions. The school utilised the CLARITY Learning Suite to enhance teaching and learning, aligning with AITSL standards and demonstrating the positive impact of evidence-based practises on student outcomes.
The CLARITY Learning Suite played a pivotal role in helping teachers achieve Highly Accomplished Teacher (HALT) status. It provided a research-based framework for evidence-informed practice, shared accountability, and student agency. The suite’s emphasis on building a culture of learning, based on data-informed decision-making and collaborative inquiry empowered teachers to improve their practice, lead effective professional learning, and provide tangible evidence for their HALT accreditation.
School leaders emphasise the importance of leaders working collaboratively and collectively with a focus on modelling strong practice and supporting colleagues. The CLARITY Learning Suite is highlighted as a valuable tool for implementing evidence-based practices, fostering shared accountability, and achieving sustainable change within schools.
